Planning a trip to North Idaho is exciting and full of decision making to make the most use of your time.  I've lived in North Idaho for 20 years and have hosted numerous guest from out of town.  Below are my favorite picks for a weeks stay.   Arranging you lodging should be decision number one.  I highly recommend staying at Whispering Pines Post Falls Retreat It is a privately owned 4 bedroom 3 bath home in a perfect location to access all of these activities.

Day 1: Arrive in Post Falls and check into your short term rental or hotel room. Pack up a picnic, water and Visit Q'emiln Park and the Spokane River to enjoy the views and wildlife.  Q'emilin Park has a swim beach with lifeguard, playground and boat launch.  It is connected to Post Falls Community Forest where you can hike several trails and also a rock climb if that is in your wheelhouse.

Day 2 Visit the Post Falls Historical Museum to learn about the regions history then tour The Buck Knives Factory.  Play a round of frisbee golf at Corbin Park along the Spokane River. Top of the day with a homemade shake at Rogers Hamburgers and Ice Cream in Post Falls then walk down to Falls Park to view the scenic Post Falls Damn and allow the kids to throw a line in the fishing pond.

Day 3: Visit Silverwood Theme Park for the first half of the day, the northwest largest theme and amusement park with over 70 rides and attractions for all ages.   For the warmer part of the day cool off at Boulder Beach Water Park on the other side of Silverwood.  It features thrilling water slides, lazy rivers and a wave pool.

Day 4: Take a morning stroll or bike ride on the North Idaho Centennial Trail.  Visit Fun Unlimited at Templin's Post Falls to rent a jet ski.  Ski up the Spokane River to Coeur d'Alene boardwalk the worlds longest floating boardwalk.  Take some time to stroll the boardwalk and all of the eclectic shops, galleries and restaurants downtown Coeur d' Alene.

Day 5:  Get a tee time at nearby Highlands Golf Course, Prairie Falls Golf Course or try you luck at the worlds only floating green at Coeur d' Alene Golf Resort.  Afterwards enjoy a spa day at Highlands Spa and Trivia time at Embers by the Green.

Day 6:  Take a scenic cruise on Lake Coeur d' Alene followed by a steak dinner at the infamous Wold Lodge steak house or a night of family fun at Triple Play Family Fun Park.

Day 7: Take a day trip to nearby Spokane, Washington to explore the city Visit Riverfront Park and make sure to slide down the big red wagon and take in the views of the Spokane River. Check out the shops and restaurants in the downtown area and if you hit it right you could spend all day cheering on Bloomsday runners or Hoopfest basketball players.
Day 8:  Time to depart.  Cherish the memories made and start planning for your return visit next year.
